Rajasthan Government started "Rajasthan Ratna Awards" On the occasion of Rajasthan Foundation Day (March 30) for persons who have made distinguished contributions in the fields of art, culture and literature. Rajasthan Chief Minister(CM) Ashok Gehlot announced the names of seven distinguished Rajasthanis as the first recipients of the award.  Rajasthan Ratna awardees would be given Rs 1 lakh cash, a shawl and a citation. Rajasthan Ratna Award is on the lines of the highest civilian award “Bharat Ratna” conferred by the Centre.

 

First Rajasthan Ratna award 2011-12 Winners:
1. Allah Jilai Bai (1902-1992) was a folk singer who made the songs “Kesariya Baalam” and “Moomal” identical with Rajasthan. In pre-Independence India she used to sing in the court of Bikaner Maharaja Ganga Singh and was well versed in Maand, Thumri, Khayal and Dadra styles of classical singing.

 

2. Kanhaiyalal Sethia (1919-2008) hailed from Churu district and made outstanding contributions to Rajasthani literature and culture. His poems gave a peep into rural Rajasthan. 

 

3. Vijay Dan Detha was short listed for the Nobel Prize in literature for his short stories on Rajasthani life this year. His book “Bataan ri Phulwari”, while his short story “Duvida” inspire the Bollywood movie Paheli.

4. Jagjit Singh(1941-2011) gained recognition across the country as Ghazal singer, songwriter and musician. The government of India awarded him Padma Bhushan in 2003.

 

5. Laxmi Kumari Chundawat is an author and has been a member of the state assembly from 1962 to 1971 and a Rajya Sabha member from 1972 to 1978. She has also received the Padma Shri award in 1984 for her contribution to Rajasthani literature.

6. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt  won the Grammy award in 1994 for his album ‘A Meeting by the River’ with Ry Cooder. He is also a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy Award (1998) and Padma Shri (2002).

 

7. Komal Kothari (March 4, 1929 – April 20, 2004), commonly known as Komalda, was an Indian folklorist and ethnomusicologist from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. A pioneer in the study of Indian folkore, he is most known for his work on the folklore of Rajasthan and its links to Music of Rajasthan and its instruments. He founded the Rupayan Sansthan in the 1960, with Vijaydan Detha, an institute that documents Rajasthani folklore, arts and music.

Name of Post –  Lower Division Clerk (LDC)

Educational Qualification –  Intermediate Pass

Technical Qualification –  Typing knowledge and Practice  in English on computer with at least speed of 35 words per Minute.

Desirable – Knowledge of Computer Operation, qualify in junior or senior grade typing in English.

Limitation of Age – Candidate’s age should be between 18 to 27 years as counted on 13/04/2012.

Age Relaxation - Relaxation in upper age will be given as per rules and regulations of Government of India for OBC/PH/EXSM/Serving Candidates.

Indian Overseas Bank Recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) 2012

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) was established in 1937 by Shri M Ct M Chidambaram Chettyar to encourage overseas banking and foreign exchange operations. Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: A Degree in any discipline from a recognised university/ Institution with minimum 60% Marks (55% for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD).
• IBPS Score Requirement: Valid IBPS score obtained in Common Written Examination (CWE) for Probationary Officers (POs) / Management Trainees (MTs) 2011-12 with a minimum score of 120 for
  General category and 105 for SC/ ST/OBC/ PWD category.
  
  NOTE: Candidates should also secure minimum marks, i.e. 24 for General category and 21 for Reserved Categories, in each subject including descriptive test in CWE.
• Essential Qualification: Candidate should be Computer literate which the candidate must either possess before or acquire within six months of joining the Bank.
• Desirable Qualification: Diploma in Banking & Finance (DBF) from Indian Institute Of Banking and Finance (IIBF) is a besides the above entry level qualification.
• Age Limit (as on 1 July 2011): Minimum 21 years, Maximum 30 years

Pay Scale: Rs 14500 - 600 x 7/ 18700 -700 x 2/ 20100 - 800 x 7/ 25700 plus DA, HRA, CCA as per rules in force from time to time.

Selection Procedure: Candidates shall be selected on the basis of interview (50 marks). Minimum qualifying marks in the Interview will be 22.50 marks for General Category and 20 marks for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PC Candidates.

Final selection will be made on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the  Common Written Examination (CWE) conducted by IBPS in Sept / Nov 2011 & Interview and will be strictly according to the merit ranking.

Interview Centres: The personal interview will be tentatively held at major centres of the country and address of the same will be advised in the interview call letters.

Application Fee: Fee for General and OBC category candidates is Rs 200 and fee for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates is Rs 50.

The fee can be paid either in the form of Payment Receipt Challan which will be available on the bank's website from 30 March 2012. The fee needs to be remitted in any of Indian Overseas Bank's branches by means of cash only and collect candidate's copy of Payment Receipt Challan for the application fee/ postage charge paid. Candidates should ensure that the following information has been correctly entered (1) Branch Name & Code Number (2) Transaction ID (3) Date of deposit and amount.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) Five, involving 76 matches among 9 teams, will commence and finish in Chennai, from 4 April 2012 to 27 May 2012 All the teams will be playing with each other, one at home and the away from home with a league phase including of 72 matches, commencing with Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, against Mumbai Indians, the Champions League T20 winners. The first match will be held at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The IPL season five will last for 54 days comprising of 72 league matches. The two finalists of IPL four, Chennai and Bangalore will be hosting the play-offs.
